At the conclusion of the 2009 CIS Swimming Championships in Vancouver the CIS announced the results of the CIS Coach of the Year ballot.  This award is voted on by the Head Coaches from each school with the award going to the coach with the most votes.

Mike Blondal from the University of Calgary was named the 2009 CIS Women's Team Coach of the Year.  Blondal guided the UofC Dino's to their first ever CIS Women's Swimming banner in school history.  The Dino's total point total was also a record for a women's teams at the CIS.

Derrick Schoof from the UBC Thunderbirds was named the 2009 CIS Men's Team Coach of the Year as his T-Birds won the Men's team banner for the 11th time in the past 12 years.
