The Fort McMurray Swimming Club is excited to announce the addition of Brent Forsyth in the role of Head Coach for the 2015-2016 season. Forsyth, coming from Victoria, BC, will assume the role effective August 15, 2015.
A coaching veteran of many years, Brent has a track record of success in Canadian swimming that dates back many decades, most recently as Senior Coach with the Island Swimming Club where he worked with Victoria High Performance Centre Director of Swimming, Randy Bennett. Over the course of his career he’s had the opportunity to work with and for some of the very best coaches in the sport.
Among many accomplishments, Brent’s swimmers have achieved National Age Group Records and Provincial Records (Alberta) and have attended Age Group Champs, CIS Champs, Senior Champs and Olympic Trials.
“Brent brings strong leadership and organizational skills to the table in addition to his technical knowledge”, notes Craig Ewashko, FMSC President. “Brent’s coaching ability and style are a perfect complement to our current coaching staff. In combination with a strong and supportive parent group and a phenomenal training facility, Fort McMurray is poised to become a hot-spot for competitive swimming.”
"I'm really excited about the opportunities and potential that Fort McMurray has to offer," said Forsyth. "It’s been a great run in Victoria and I’ve enjoyed my work with Island Swimming immensely, but the ability to return to Alberta and take on the role of Head Coach of the Manta Program was something that I just couldn’t pass up.”
