The CSCTA would like to thank Pierre Lafontaine for his almost 8 years with Swimming Canada as CEO and National Coach and wish him all the best in his new role as Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Interuniversity Sport. We all look forward to working with him in this capacity over the years to come.
"Pierre has done a tremendous job convincing Canadian swimmers that anything is possible” said CSCTA President Bill Humby. “We have seen significant improvements on the world stage, both in senior and junior performances, and our membership base has grown under his tenure.
Since arriving back in Canada in 2005 Pierre has led Canadian swimming through his enthusiasm and endless supply of energy, helping to lift the spirits of Canadian swimming at all levels from grassroots to the Olympic podium. Pierre will take his passion for Canada and for sport to the CIS and their 54 member Universities as he begins his new role after March 1, 2013
“Canadian Swimming is in a good position thanks to Pierre’s efforts.” added Humby, “Obviously his leadership within Swimming Canada will be missed but we believe Pierre can orchestrate similar changes within the CIS helping better position Canadian university sport in the high performance delivery system within Canada.”
Thank you Pierre and good luck!
