Victoria, BC - Island Swimming Club (ISC) is excited to announce the selection of David Tontini as its new Head Coach. Tontini replaces Ben Keast who has taken a position at the Vancouver High Performance Centre. 
Tontini has coached at Pointe-Claire Swim Club (PCSC) for the past nine years. An integral part of PCSC’s success, including three consecutive Junior National Championships, Tontini was promoted to Head Coach of the Sport-Études program at PCSC. During his three-year tenure as the Head of the program, he tripled the number of swimmers in the program, coaching provincial champions and record holders, Junior National Medalists and one 2017 Canada Games qualifier. 
“I am honoured to be joining ISC as its new Head Coach. Island is a club with a rich history and a tradition of excellence. I am looking forward to furthering that tradition of excellence while leading the club to new and bright horizons”, said Tontini. 
Dave holds a BA from McGill University and is a level 3 NCCP trained coach. 
“Dave is energetic and enthusiastic, and known for his ability to motivate swimmers. Dave is an exciting addition to the ISC team”, said Crystal Witterick, President of Island Swimming Club. 
Tontini will join the club September 12 in time for the start of a new competitive season. He will be responsible for overseeing club operations in Saanich and the Westshore including the Claremont Swim Institute. 
Island Swimming Club has been developing high performance swimmers in Greater Victoria since 1913. The club offers programs for swimmers from 6 to 60 focusing on local, provincial, national and international competition. ISC is the current 2017 AAA BC Champion and this summer has sent swimmers to Junior and Senior Nationals, FINA World Championships, FISU Games and Junior World Championships.
