CSCTA caps off AGM with announcement on new funding initiatives for swim Coaches
“Members of the 2011-12 Board of Directors elected”
TORONTO - The CSCTA concluded its Annual General Meeting in Toronto on Friday with the announcement a its 2011-12 Board of directors and two new exciting funding initiatives for Canadian swim coaches.
Along with reporting on the activities of the 2010-2011 season the Association also presented audited financial statements and held the election for three vacant Board of Director positions.
“Over the previous year the CSCTA has continued to improve and strengthen its role in the decision-making framework at the local, domestic and international levels while continuing to develop sustainable working partnerships with our various partners,” said CSCTA President, Bill Humby.
“One of the main focuses for the Association during the previous season was the review and implementation of the new Code of Conduct, Discipline, Screening and Appeals Policies. All previous policies underwent a thorough review and became active on September 1.”
Elected to the Board of Directors were returning Board members Tom Johnson, Jan Bidrman and Peter Carpenter.
The Board and their Portfolios will remain unchanged and the CSCTA Board of Directors for 2011-2012 will be: Bill Humby, President; David Fry, VP Professional Practice; Jan Bidrman, VP High Performance; Peter Carpenter, VP Domestic; Tom Johnson, VP Operations; Dave Johnson, Director at Large; Dean Boles, Director at Large.
New funding initiatives for Canadian Swim Coaches
The CSCTA also announced two new funding initiatives aimed at increasing Professional Development opportunities for its membership.
Personal Coach Funding Program Highlights:
- Up to $10 000 / year for the major international event
- Olympic Games, World Championships and Pan Pacific Championships
- In 2012 the CSCTA will fund four (4) coaches at $4 000.00 each to attend the Olympic Games.
- Selection is based off of the Trials event and ranked using World Rankings

Coaching Grant Program Highlights:
- Up to $ 15 000.00 available annually based on applications received
- Application deadlines are October 31 and April 30 of each year
- To be eligible coaches will have had a medallist at Age Group Nationals, Summer Nationals or a finalist at the Major Trials event.
- Not available for Conference Attendance (Regional, National, International)
- Not available for NCCP Courses (all levels)
- Review committee consists of CSCTA Executive Director and two (2) Board Members.
