Swim Alberta is pleased to announce that Mark Perry will assume the new position of Head Provincial Coach effective August 1, 2014.
Perry’s career, spanning almost 20 years, has included many different roles from grassroots swim club programs to leading British Swimming on the national stage as British Swimming Development Lead and on the international stage as leader with the British Swimming Open Water Team. Perry’s leadership of the British Swimming Open Water team helped secure three medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, five World Championship medals, and nine European Junior Open Water medals.
Reporting to Cheryl Humphrey, Executive Director of Swim Alberta, Perry’s new, full-time position will play a key role in providing mentorship to development and age group coaches across the province, work closely with seasoned coaches in defining a High Performance Pathway for our athletes and act in the capacity of head coach or head mentor coach on all provincial initiatives.
“As an organization, Swim Alberta is committed to leading the nation in competitive swimming,” Humphrey said. “Mark’s skills and experience ensure that we continue to build upon the strengths that exist in our Development and Age Group Programs as well as being able to seek out new opportunities to create and define a go-forward plan for high performance swimming in the province.”

Perry will be based out of Calgary and will work with clubs, coaches and swimmers across the province.
