MONTREAL - The swimming community morns the sudden passing of Dr. Gord Sleivert, Vice President of CSC Pacific, on the evening of April 2, 2012 while he was in Montreal working with CSC Pacific staff and Canadian Olympic swimming IST at the recent Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Trials.
Gord had been with CSC Pacific since November 2003, helping establish and build the centre's performance service team that helps power podium performances for Canadian athletes and coaches. Gord had been actively engaged in the coordination of Swimming Canada's Integrated Science team.
Pierre Lafontaine, CEO and National for Swimming Canada: "Gord was a true pioneer in the field of sports science. He worked tirelessly at supporting our athletes and coaches in the field. He was an inspiration and great friend. On behalf of the swimming community, I wish to express my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them."
Gord is survived by his wife Kari, and three children Benjamin (15), Brianne (15) and Lachlan (12).
