The University of Calgary Swim Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Dave Macdonald in the new role of the Age Group Head Coach effective September 1, 2016.
Coach Dave has guided innumerable swimmers to all levels of competitive swimming, from learn-to-swim through to varsity, from the provincial level through to the international stage. His swimmers have broken Provincial and National records, won team championship banners at Provincials, Westerns Championships, and Canadian Age Group Nationals. The recipient of awards from Swimming Canada and Swim Alberta, Coach Dave also chairs the Alberta Coaches Council and steers coaches’ education in our province.
Known for his innovative teaching methods and clear vision for long-term athlete development, as demonstrated by the longevity and success of his athletes, Coach Dave’s impact on the entire UCSC age group program will be immediate as he assumes leadership of the GOLD 14 squad and mentoring of the coaching staff.

The University of Calgary Swim Club is one of the most successful swimming programs in Canada, and operates out of five pools in Calgary, Alberta. UCSC is a year round swim team that supports and develops over 480 swimmers through the Development (ages six and above), Age Group, Varsity, Senior National, and International Programs. UCSC is a partner with the University of Calgary Dinos Varsity teams.
